Gujarat Govt to send two chartered plans to China

  • 64 people return home safely from China, none corona affected


Gandhinagar, Feb 01, 2020: Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel on Friday announced the state government would send two chartered planes to bring Gujaratis from China, even as 21 more people returned from the corona virus-hit country.
Talking to reporters, Patel said the government is in constant contact with China and is arranging two hire two aircraft to ensure safe return of people from there.
There are approximately 700 people in Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the deadly coronavirus. An Air India flight was also been sent to evacuate Indians and according to Air India CMD Ashwini Lohani, “At least 400 Indians will be evacuated today.”
Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation has declared virus outbreak a health emergency.
After the arrival of 21 people, including students, the total number of people who returned from China during the last two days has reached 64 with 24 from north Gujarat’s Mehsana district.
Officials at the facilitation centre or control room set up at the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) here to help Gujaratis living in China informed that so far they have received 325 calls from 215 families of such people from across the state.
Trupti Vyas, In-charge Deputy Collector of the centre said till January 29 evening, 13 of those living in China had returned to Gujarat but this number has now gone up to 64 today. None of them had any symptoms of the deadly virus infection, Health Commissioner Jaiprakash Shivhare said.
Meanwhile, a special prayer meeting was held at the Mohammed Ali Mosque in Jamalpur area of old Ahmedabad. Jamalpur-Khadia MLA Imran Khedawala led the meeting. A special dua was also made to seek protection against the deadly virus.
