  • Delay in issue of caste certificate
  • Toliya could have applied in general category & got her documents verified on schedule

Ahmedabad, August 23, 2018. A division bench of Gujarat High Court on Tuesday (August 21) heard an appeal filed by Khyati Toliya, a student from Saurashtra seeking admission in the MBBS course under the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
GNN learns, Toliya in her appeal claimed the competent authority issued caste certificate to her after the first round of MBBS admission was completed and she could not get her documents verified. Earlier, a single judge bench rejected her plea to direct the Gujarat Government to consider her case under the ST quota.
Following this, Toliya filed an appeal with the division bench. The bench headed by Chief Justice RS Reddy first commented that the student should be compensated for the injustice. The bench later adjourned the case after the Gujarat Government maintained that the student could have applied in general category and got her documents verified on schedule.
