Ahmedabad gets 15mm rain

  • Gujarat gets 65% of season’s rainfall

Ahmedabad, August 22, 2018. Still running in deficit as the monsoon season heads towards a closure next month, Ahmedabad experienced light to moderate showers on Tuesday (August 21) with 15mm rainfall recorded till 10pm.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the city along with other parts of north, central and south Gujarat might receive sporadic heavy rainfall. A low-pressure area lies over north Madhya Pradesh and nearby areas. The associated cyclonic circulation tilts southwards. The system would bring in rains for next couple of days.
Heavy rain warning has been issued for Wednesday (August 22) for districts including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Chhota Udaipur, Vadodara, Kheda, Aravalli, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Narmada, Bharuch, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Mehsana and Bhavnagar. On August 23, heavy rains are likely to continue in Mahisagar, Dahod, Panchmahal and Bhavnagar.
The Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) on Tuesday said, Gujarat received 13.7mm rainfall, taking the total tally to 540.5mm for 2018 monsoon season or 65% of total rainfall. Much of this rainfall is reported in south Gujarat.
