GNN | Aug 13, 2017, 3:52 PM IST|
Pravin Ram, Gujarat President of the Jan Adhikhar Manch has threatened to go on a fast unto death after the Janmasthmi festival if the Gujarat Government fails in accepting his demands pertaining to the farm sector in the Gir forest area. Already Ram is on a dharna in front of the Talala Mamlatdar office since the past 21 days. Ram’s major demands includes abolishing the eco-zone in the Gir forest, providing remunerative prices to farmers, waiving of farm loans, providing crop insurance to horticultural produce in the Gir area and solving all problems of settlement villages, aasha bahens and sarpanches. “Our last effort to make the government listen to our demands is on Janmasthmi day,” Ram says. “Otherwise I will be forced to undertake a fast unto death.” Ram claims many individuals and organisations have come out in support of his dharna. GNN learns more than 12 villages have sent representations to the government and many women of the area have also sent rakhis to the Gujarat chief minister. “Our fight is not to ensure that the government bows but to ensure that the government accepts our demands.” Pravin Ram can be contacted on 99982-03536 and 76980-80680.
