  • Maniyars beat up Firoze Shaikh for not giving money
  • Burglars decamp with 173 saris


Ahmedabad, August 23, 2018. Firoze Shaikh, 43, a resident of Gomtipur, filed a complaint with police on Monday (August 20) that two men – Roshan Maniyar and Afzal Maniyar — allegedly beat him up and threatened him as he refused to give them money to start a business of illegal liquor in the city. The duo also brandished a knife and threatened Shaikh with dire consequences. Shaikh lodged an FIR with the Gomtipur police.
In another incident, Razzak Mansuri, a cloth trader from Sarangpur area of Ahmedabad filed a complaint with Madhavpura police on Tuesday (August 21) saying a parcel containing 173 saris worth Rs86,500 ($1240) was stolen from one of his trucks between July 19 and July 20. Mansuri said that he had first tried to find the parcel in his godown and other trucks but as he did not get it, he approached the police.
In the third crime incident, Naroda resident Ronak Bhat, filed an FIR with Chandkheda police that his wife’s purse containing cash and ornaments totalling Rs25,000 ($358) was stolen from his car.
