FIR lodged over false Congress list

AHMEDABAD: Balu Patel, chairman of the Congress election coordinating committee, has lodged a complaint with the cyber cell of Ahmedabad crime branch regarding the allegedly false candidate list of 77.
The fake list of Congress candidates appeared on November 19 and became viral on the social media, a TNN report said.
This forced Congress leaders to come forward and say that the list was forged and even the signature of Bharatsinh Solanki at the end of the list was forged. Sources in the cyber cell said the FIR mentions that the letterhead used to make the false list was also a fake one.
"We have registered an offence against unknown persons and are probing the case," said a senior crime branch official. Senior police officers said that they were investigating the source of the cell phone or the device from which the alleged false list was first circulated on social media. "In order to identify the source, we have even asked for the IP addresses of the first cell phones to receive the forged list," a crime branch official said.
